Pakistan’s access-to-finance initiatives have recorded significant progress since June 2026, with approved financing under the PM Apna Ghar program nearly doubling to Rs. 280 billion, while more than 7,600 loans have been disbursed.
Applications have increased 52 percent to more than 139,000 since June, while approved applications have risen 84 percent to more than 46,000. Approved financing has nearly doubled to Rs. 280 billion from Rs. 144 billion, while more than 7,600 loans worth over Rs. 38 billion have been disbursed, marking a 59 percent increase.
According to an update shared by advisor to the Finance Minister, Khurram Shehzad, the housing sector has recorded significant growth under the PM Apna Ghar program.
Agricultural financing has also expanded, with the number of agri borrowers rising from 3.26 million in June to 3.37 million by mid-August.
Total agricultural financing has remained at Rs. 1.26 trillion. Under the Zarkhez e program, more than 58,000 farmers have registered, while bank approvals have increased 12 percent to more than 16,700. Financing approved under the program has crossed Rs. 7.2 billion, with around 5,000 loans disbursed.
Access to formal financing is also being expanded for small and medium enterprises. Around 330,000 SMEs are accessing approximately Rs. 1.05 trillion in formal finance, while new credit scoring models being introduced across 13 banks are intended to reduce reliance on traditional collateral-based lending.
The financing agenda is also linking credit with working capital, long-term investment, export refinancing and performance-based incentives to support business expansion and exports.
Green finance has emerged as another area of growth under the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification Program.
The program has recorded more than 83,000 applications, with approved applications exceeding 15,800, up 24 percent since June. More than 4,000 loans have been disbursed, a 34 percent increase, while electric vehicle deliveries have more than tripled from 471 at launch to over 1,500.
