40 Pakistanis Deported From Greece

Forty Pakistani nationals who had entered Greece illegally were deported and sent to Islamabad on a special flight.

The deportees belong to Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Sialkot districts, while only one deportee is from Islamabad.

Officials said all of them had entered Greece illegally through Libya and were kept in different detention camps there.

At New Islamabad International Airport, immigration officials reviewed each deportee’s case individually.

They said most of the deportees had legally travelled from Pakistan by air routes and later slipped away in an attempt to reach Europe illegally, where they were arrested.

The deportees will now face investigations by the FIA’s anti-human trafficking cells in their respective regions.

Officials said information gathered during the inquiry will help identify facilitators, after which legal action will be taken.

Authorities have urged citizens to obtain travel documents only through legal and authentic channels for overseas travel.

They said checks at the country’s airports remain strict, and FIA pre-verification counters have also been set up at Islamabad Airport and other airports, where passengers can verify their travel documents before departure.
