The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has issued guidelines explaining when a work permit application can be rejected or an existing permit cancelled.
According to the ministry, three employer-related violations can lead to refusal or revocation of a permit.
These include submitting incorrect or forged documents, operating a fictitious business or ending the activity for which the company was registered, and failing to comply with the Wages Protection System or other labour regulations.
MoHRE said that before a permit is approved, the employer’s trade licence must be valid and free of violations. The job title listed for the worker must also match the company’s registered business activity.
Only a person legally authorised to represent the establishment can submit the application.
On the worker side, the minimum age for a standard work permit is 18, although exceptions exist for juvenile permits and student training or employment programmes.
The ministry said the framework reviews employer compliance and worker eligibility together, and a shortfall on either side can result in rejection.
It added that trade-licence status, wage-payment compliance and correct job-title matching remain active grounds for cancellation for as long as the permit stays valid.
