24 High-Voltage Electricity Poles Stolen in Balochistan

Unidentified thieves stole electrical conductors from 24 power poles in Balochistan, cutting off electricity to Gandawah. The poles themselves were not reported stolen, although three were damaged during the theft.

According to Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) spokesperson Afzal Baloch, the incident occurred on Saturday along the 33kV Gandawah feeder in the Bhaag area.

The theft disrupted the feeder supplying electricity to Gandawah city, leaving the area without power.

Baloch said three pre-stressed concrete (PCC) poles were also damaged during the incident. However, the extent of the damage and the cost of replacing the stolen conductors had yet to be determined.

QESCO will carry out an initial survey of the affected infrastructure and prepare a report to assess the financial losses caused by the theft.

The company’s statement did not provide a timeline for restoring electricity to Gandawah or specify how many consumers were affected.

The perpetrators remained unidentified in the available account, which also did not mention any arrests or recovery of the stolen conductors.
