Lahore Traffic Police has launched a crackdown on vehicles with outstanding e-challans and formed special teams to take action against persistent defaulters.
According to traffic police, around 2.9 million vehicles in Lahore currently have unpaid e-challans. Checkpoints have been established at various locations to identify and impound vehicles with large numbers of pending violations.
The traffic police has also released a list of the 100 vehicles with the highest number of outstanding e-challans. Officials said 10 vehicles have more than 300 pending challans, while 307 vehicles have over 200 and more than 4,000 have over 100.
Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi directed officials to take defaulter vehicles into custody and shift them to police stations.
Authorities have also restricted 14 key police services for e-challan defaulters, including driving license facilities and character certificates, until they address their outstanding violations.
The Safe City system, Police Khidmat Markaz and licensing system have been integrated to support the enforcement drive. Traffic police are also taking action against motorists who tamper with or alter vehicle number plates.
