Serving Schools Association Demands Immediate Cut in Class 9 and 10 Syllabus

The Serving Schools Association has asked the government to reduce the Class 9 and 10 syllabus because students have had very few teaching days this academic year.

Association President Raza-ur-Rehman said students have attended classes for only 45 days, even though half of the academic year has already passed.

He said schools have only four months left before the annual matric exams, making it difficult for them to complete the full syllabus on time.

According to him, winter holidays, Eid-ul-Fitr and Basant holidays may further reduce teaching time. He said schools may get only around 60 more teaching days before the exams.

The association also called for an end to unannounced school holidays, saying frequent closures are affecting both students and teachers.

Raza-ur-Rehman said the matric syllabus is too long compared with the limited time available. He asked education authorities to reduce the syllabus for Classes 9 and 10 as soon as possible.

He also said the current syllabus is difficult for many students and may increase the chances of poor exam results.

The association warned that the current syllabus could cause many students to fail their board exams unless authorities reduce it.

Raza-ur-Rehman added that students who fail matric exams may also face fewer job opportunities later.
