PDMA Punjab Proposes Extension in Summer Vacations Due to Floods

The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has recommended extending school closures in flood-affected areas amid ongoing monsoon rains and flooding.

The authority has advised the School Education Department not to reopen schools in affected areas on August 20. Educational activities may remain suspended until floodwaters recede and conditions return to normal.

PDMA has also recommended assessing the cost of restoring affected schools and other government buildings in the relevant districts.

The Communication and Works Department (C&W) may be assigned to conduct a detailed survey of damaged and deteriorating schools and government buildings and prepare a report on their condition.
