Karachi to Rehabilitate 139 Roads Under Rs. 14 Billion Program

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced a Rs. 14 billion road rehabilitation program under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) that will cover 139 roads across all districts of the city.

The development program includes the reconstruction and rehabilitation of major roads, upgrades to the drainage network, replacement of water supply lines, and installation of streetlights. KMC plans to improve the city’s infrastructure and municipal services through the initiative.

Mayor Wahab announced the program during a high-level review meeting at the KMC Head Office. He said Karachi had entered “a new era of development” after years of neglect and stressed that the projects would improve infrastructure and restore public confidence.

He said the Sindh government had extended full support to KMC for carrying out large-scale development projects. He added that the road rehabilitation drive forms part of the city’s broader plan to upgrade roads, drainage systems, and public facilities.

Mayor Wahab directed all departments to maintain transparency, ensure quality construction, and complete the projects on time. He also said he would personally supervise both the procurement process and the execution of the schemes to ensure high standards.
